US Embassy Spokesman denies Chamisa’s claim US President promised their party $15b for reconstruction
United States embassy spokesperson David Macguire has denied MDC Allaince acting chairperson Nelson Chamisa’s claims that United States President Donald Trump promised to unveil $15 billion should the opposition coalition win the forthcoming elections.
Macguire said the United States does not make such promises to political parties.
We do not support individuals or political parties. We do not take a position on who is going to be a political leader of a country.
The outcome of an election is up to the people of that country to decide.
We do not make such promises to individuals or political parties.
Addressing MDC Alliance supporters in Mutare on Sunday, Chamisa said Trump promised to unveil $15 billion when he and People’s Democratic Party leader Mr Tendai Biti travelled to Washington in December last year where they met several officials in the US administration.
