Initial works for the establishment of a new parliament building in Mt Hampden are almost complete and the Chinese contractors are expected to be on site by end of year.

The initial works entail access road construction, provision of water and electricity.
Construction of the new parliament is expected to be funded by the Chinese government to the tune of 676 million renminbi (rmb).
Engineer Mlilo expressed satisfaction progress of the project saying Treasury has done a lot given the economic challenges confronting the country.
The establishment of the new parliament will decongest the central business district and create more space for the legislators.
